Skye Patete and Janet Chardavoyne were chosen to receive the Governor’s Educator of the year and Educational Service Professional of the Year awards.

Patete is the math teacher for fifth and sixth grades. This is her fifth year in the district. Patete exemplifies what it is to be a great teacher. In the classroom she encourages her students to push beyond what they think they are capable of doing. Patete is not only a well-respected teacher; she has also coached many teams at Ogdensburg, including having started the first field hockey team.

In addition, she also participates in many committees including heading the Intervention and Re f erral Services Committee. Patete is often described by faculty and staff as dedicated, enthusiastic, positive and going above and beyond her job description.

Chardavoyne has been working as a paraprofessional in the Ogdensburg district for 11 years. During much of that time, Chardavoyne has been a one-to-one aide for one student, but never hesitates to assist others. Teachers that have worked with Chardavoyne say she is always one step ahead, anticipating what the students’ needs are. She works diligently at making sure that all students reach their potential. She has a great rapport with staff, students and parents.

Both Patete and Chardovyne have dedicated many hours outside of the school day to their students.
