Girls on the Run to open registration

| 14 Jan 2016 | 01:49

Registration for the Girls on the Run New Jersey North spring season will open on Jan. 31.

The organization is actively seeking coaches for their sites. More coaches will enable them to offer more teams and meet their goal of serving all girls who want to participate. Volunteers are the backbone of Girls on the Run and bring with them the commitment, motivation and passion to make a difference in the lives of young girls. Coaching for Girls on the Run is a rewarding opportunity that requires a commitment of 1.5 hours a week, twice a week, for 10 weeks.

All coaches will receive a guaranteed team placement for their daughter.

The GOTR season will begin on March 7 and conclude with the GOTR 5k on May 14 in Sparta. Due to the great interest in the program, Girls on the Run has switched to a lottery system this spring. This will give more girls the opportunity to participate in the program. The lottery will remain open from Jan 31 until Feb. 2.

At that time, if more girls are registered than the number of available spots on a team, the registration system will randomly select girls for that team. All additional girls will remain in lottery status and be placed on the wait list for full teams.

More information is available on their website, www.gotrnjn.org. For questions, email Girls on the Run at info@gotrnjn.org.
