Fairy Tale Forest to participate in Christmas in Village

Fairy Tale Forest plans to reopen sometime next year and has agreed to participate in the Jefferson Arts Committee’s Christmas in the Village event on Dec. 5.

According to Christine at ShoeBox Storage located at the same site, a holiday character will be walking around in the vicinity of the Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1 firehouse to greet the children and their families from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Details about what is occurring at all the area venues can be found at www.jeffersonarts.org and the Jefferson Arts Committee’s Facebook page.

The classic children's theme park, built by Paul Woehle, Sr. in 1957, closed in 2005, but the entrance castle and giant shoe house remain visible when traveling on Oak Ridge Road. Although over the last decade, there has been vandalism and disrepair of the iconic buildings and attractions depicting beloved children’s fairy tales, a restoration project is underway and progress, while slow, will continue with the help of many interested parties and volunteers.
