SPARTA — Baby Boom Baby, a rock music parody, will be performed at the Sparta Avenue Stage on Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. This crazy comical parody of the music and musicians that influenced a generation of baby boomers, Baby Boom Baby will be performed by Comedy Central and National Lampoon veteran Tommy Koenig at the Sparta Avenue Stage, Baby Boom Baby is 90 energetic minutes of Tommy Koenig lampooning dozens of musicians spanning seven decades of music: The Beatles, David Bowie, Prince, Queen, Bruce Springsteen, The Bee Gees, Lady Gaga, just to name a few.

While in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Tommy Koenig wrote Baby Boom Baby to entertain Boomer ex-pats and Canadian transplants living or vacationing in Mexico. The show has grown into a full theatrical production and has been performed in the US to great reviews from Austin, Texas to New York City.

The Buffalo Times says, "There is a sweet spot to be found when both paying tribute to, and simultaneously skewering some of America s greatest musical talents, and Koenig nails it."

Sparta Stage co proprietor Diane Garsetti said, "Local Comedienne Melissa Allen brought Baby Boom Baby to our attention as something completely different to have at the Stage. Tickets sales have been brisk because Tommy has such a following. We are excited to be offering this fun and unique event."

Tommy Koenig knows about rock and roll and comedy. He was one of the few comics to appear on NBC's Don Kirschner's Rock Concert appearing with Rick James and David Bowie. He has opened shows for Joan Jett, Warren Zevon, Alvin Lee and has toured with Bonnie Raitt, Dave Mason and Los Lobos to name a few.

Tommy was one of the first hosts on the Comedy Channel (now Comedy Central). He has wrote, toured and filmed shows with National Lampoon and guest starred on TV comedies (Not Necessarily the News and The Onion News Network). In 1998, Tommy formed the Comics Studio and continues to perform as well as teach/coach other comics some of whom have appeared on the Tonight Show and become successful. Tommy is a one-man music-comedy tour de force. As one patron put it, "As funny and talented as the guy is, the show has heart and soul and will leave you feeling upbeat and hopeful as we follow Tommy's search for our lost innocence."
