The resignation of Alison Littell-McHose set off a domino effect that reverberated throughout the area as various bodies both locally and at the state level fill their vacancies.

McHose was named Franklin Borough Business Administrator on Jan. 1 and resigned her Assembly seat on Saturday, Oct. 27. With the Nov. 3 general election completed, the Sussex County Republican Committee has been hard at work filling those vacancies.

Gale Phoebus, who won the seat McHose vacated in the Assembly was elected by the committee to finish out her term for the rest of the year on Saturday, Nov. 21.. Phoebus' elected term will begin Jan. 1.

Sussex Borough Mayor Jonathan Rose, who won a seat on the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders has been appointed to fill out the remainder of Phoebus' term, which will end Dec. 31. He will begin his three-year term on Jan. 1, 2016.

This left a vacancy in the Sussex Borough Mayor's office as Rose resigned from that position on Friday, Nov. 20. Council President Linda Masson will finish Rose's term as acting mayor and Mayor-Elect Katherine Little will take office on Jan. 1.

Susse Borough
Rose was scheduled to preside over the Sussex Borough Council on Tuesday, Nov. 17, but the meeting did not happen due to a lack of a quorum.

Little, Masson and Councilwomen Annette Stendor and Georgeanna Stoll were absent.

Borough Attorney Francis J. McGovern swore Councilman-Elect Franklin Dykstra into his seat. He will take over for former Councilman Mario Poggi, who did not seek re-election to the seat and did not win a three-year term on the council. Dykstra's term will end Dec. 31, 2016.
