About 200 former ski patrollers and guests joined together Saturday evening to celebrate 50 years of service to the Vernon ski area.

Held at Mountain Creek’s Red Tail Lodge, ski patrol members were recognized for their service at Mountain Creek and its past incarnations as the Great Gorge and Vernon Valley ski areas.

Unveiling the Ski Patrol Memorial Plaque was Senior Patrol Leader Paul Bruno, who joined the ski patrol in 1988. Bruno also serves as a mountain rescue team member and responds to emergencies and incidents in the bike park and water park. On Saturday, Bruno received the prestigious Eastern Division Patroller Achievement Award.

For all who attended it was a fun evening of recalling the adventures and misadventures of being a member of the ski patrol. It was also a reunion of former patrollers who had not seen each other for many years.
