The Girls on the Run team at the Lafayette Township Elementary School hosted a Pink Ribbon Walk.

The team made 350 pink ribbon pins for all of the staff and students to wear. The entire student body and staff walked together to raise breast cancer awareness, honor survivors and remember those that have been lost.

"It was moving to see the entire school walking together for a cause," said Assistant Principal Jerry Fazzio, who is supportive of the event and of Girls on the Run. "We are grateful to the Municipal Alliance whose support significantly subsidizes the Girls on the Run program at our school."

The Girls on the Run curriculum involves the girls completing a community service event. Girls on the Run coach Megan Leto said many of the coaches and team members had been touched by breast cancer and the girls came up with this amazing event. She said nothing is better than the girls brainstorming about an idea and working together to make it happen!

Girls on the Run New Jersey North serves girls in Sussex, Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties, and is one of more than 200 chapters across the United States.
