Ogdensburg working on becoming green

Ogdensburg School is continuing to work on its goal of being a green school.

The school community participated in the Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge from November 2014 to April 2015, sending 179 pounds of plastic bags to be recycled instead of into a landfill. Ogdensburg School received a Trex planter made out of recycled plastic bags for its efforts. Plastic bags and film continue to be collected for a new Trex Challenge this school year. Ogdensburg staff, parents, and students participated in their fourth annual Green Apple Day of Service on Sept. 26.

The group cleaned up the Ogdensburg School grounds, field, and Outdoor classroom area. The Ogdensburg School is the only school in Sussex County to participate in this world-wide event.

On Oct. 23, students will participate in a Walk to School Event with the help of TransOptions, saving gasoline, reducing air pollution, and giving everyone some extra exercise.
