Sierra Club group plans environmental discussion

    The Skylands Sierra Club Group will host a discussion about "Global Population and the Environment," led by group member Mindy Geary on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.

    Geary attended a Sierra Club Population Activist Training in Washington, D.C., in May of this year. She is an admitted candidate in the Sustainable and Environmental Management Program of the Extension School of Harvard University.

    Highlights of Ms. Geary's presentation will include:

    Increasing universal access to voluntary family planning and reproductive health services;

    Advancing women's and girls' basic rights, including access to health care, education and economic opportunity;

    Promoting youth leadership through trainings and workshops; and

    Raising public awareness of wasteful resources consumption in the context of social and economic equity.

    The public is welcome to attend free of charge. Light refreshments will be served.
