Freisinger leads Rowan cross-country team

    Edward Freisinger from Wallkill Valley High School is a sophomore on the roster of the Rowan University men’s cross country program this fall. Freisinger placed second overall and first for his team at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational on Sept. 19 in Sewell. The Profs won the team championship with 22 points, well ahead of second place finisher, USMMA.

    Freisinger was third overall and first for his team at the Salisbury Fall Classic on Sept. 5. Rowan won the team crown with 39 points and Navy was second with 46 points. He was 15th overall at the Delaware Invitational on Sept. 12 at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark.

    Allison Mycek is a freshman for the Montclair State University women’s cross country squad this season. Mycek placed seventh overall and first for the Red Hawks at the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational.

    Mycek was ninth overall and first for Montclair State at the Ramapo College Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 4 at Garrett Mountain in Woodland Park with a time of 21:35.1. She placed first for her team and 34th overall at the Monmouth Cross Country Invitational at Holmdel Park on Sept. 12.

    Grace Bailey from Vernon High School is a junior goalkeeper and midfielder for the College of Saint Elizabeth’s women’s soccer team this year. Bailey started in the first four games of the regular season and recorded a goal. As a goalie, Bailey tallied 62 saves through the first four contests.

    Through Sept. 18, the Eagles had an overall mark of 0-4, including a one goal loss to Sarah Lawrence College in the season opening match. On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Eagles have home match scheduled versus State University of New York (SUNY) Cobleskill. The following day, they are slated to host SUNY Poly. Bailey is listed as a chemistry major with a concentration in forensic science.

    Meelad Pourshariati (Wallkill Valley High School) is a freshman for the Georgian Court University (Lakewood, NJ) men’s soccer program this fall. Pourshariati is listed as a digital communications/computer programming major.

    Through the first five games of the regular season, the Lions had an overall record of 2-2-1.

    Luke Venskus (Vernon High School) is a freshman linebacker for the Rowan University football team this year. Through the first two games of the regular season, the Profs were 2-0. On September 26, they are scheduled to host Montclair State.
