Sussex County Community College held their fall orientation for new and transfer students on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

More than 550 students gathered under the pavilion for this year’s theme, “Passport to Success.”

Speakers for the event included Todd Poltersdorf, director of admissions; Frank Nocella, interim president; and Corrine Woodhead, president of the Student Government Association. This year’s motivational speaker was Jon Vroman who gave a presentation about “Living College Life in the Front Row.” This was Vroman's fifth year as a guest speaker due to the positive response from students in the past.

Students were divided into groups to participate in various discussions including campus safety, financial aid and making the most of campus online tools. The groups toured the campus, visiting the Performing Arts Center, computer labs and bookstore; met student leaders, faculty and administration; obtain parking stickers and apply for their SCCC ID cards. Lunch with the staff and faculty was provided under the pavilion as well as DJ entertainment.

Classes for the fall semester began on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
