VERNON — Perfect weather and a warm day encouraged hundreds of Highland Lakes families to turn out last Sunday for the annual Highland Lakes Family Day.
Events also included a quadrathlon, triathlon, sand castle building, wacky relay races, a bicycle and hat decorating parade, a baby parade, and much more.
Grilled food, popcorn, and cotton candy was available throughout the day. The evening concluded with a 9 p.m. fireworks display that could be heard from miles away.
Each year lakefront homeowners on the main lake invite their friends, neighbors, and family to enjoy the nighttime display from their docks, decks, and boats.
