Cars, chrome and a worthy cause

Vehicle owners showed off their rides with pride during the 14th Annual Pocono Mountains Corvette Club 9/11 Memorial Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 16 at Sussex County Community College in Newton.

Proceeds benefitted the Sussex County 9/11 Memorial and Sussex County Community College for book scholarships. Classic cars and trucks along with late models were on display.

Trophies were awarded in numerous categories, including: “Best of Show,” “Peoples Choice,” “Participants Choice,” and “Fireman’s Choice.”

The Pocono Mountains Corvette Club (PMCC) is an organization comprised of a group of Corvette enthusiasts who join together to enjoy their Corvettes and each others company. The Pocono Mountains Corvette Club meeting place is in Port Jervis, N.Y. Despite the club's name and main stock the organization is open to other type's of vehicles. The club has been in existence since 1991 and organizes charity events throughout the year.

The Newton Fire Department cooked food for the event and also had one of their classic fire trucks on display.
