NEWTON — Free library cards are available at the Sussex County Library.

Register for a free card in September, during Library Card Signup Month, and be eligible to win one of the two gift certificates that will be chosen randomly in a raffle. There will be one gift certificate for children ages 12 and under, and another for teens and adults.

The library has a tremendous array of services and programs: Best sellers, DVDs, Ebooks, museum passes, downloadable audiobooks and music, online magazines, nationwide loan system, mini iPads to borrow, databases, story times, special programs and more.

The library card is good at any one of Sussex County’s six County libraries and at more than 70 libraries in several counties: Morris, Passaic, Sussex (including Sparta), Warren, and Middlesex. When getting a new card, a green Open Borrowing sticker will be given, and cardholders will be able to visit any of the participating libraries and borrow materials.

All Sussex County residents are eligible, excluding Sparta residents, and Sussex County property owners, excluding those individuals owning property in Sparta, can obtain a library card (all you need is proper identification).

Locals who work in Sussex County but live in Pennsylvania or New York, are eligible for a library card that is valid for one year. And as long as guests are three years or older, they can sign up for a card.

Locals can register for a card on the library’s website at www.sussexcountylibrary.org.

For more information, call the Main Library’s Circulation Desk at 973-948-3660, or the branch closest to where you live.
