The Ogdensburg Historical Society celebrated the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Borough of Ogdensburg with a dinner held in the firehouse Saturday night.

“Ogdensburg has always set the bar high and continues to exceed on every level.”

Historical Society Vice President, John Kibildis, acting as master of ceremonies, introduced the Rev. John Pilipie, who offered the Invocation. Assemblywoman Alison McHose and Assemblyman Parker Space spoke briefly about their experiences with the borough and its residents.

After a buffet dinner catered by Villa Capri II, Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen shared his experiences with the crowd.

“You have a remarkable borough here," Frelinghuysen said. "You always spelled my name correctly on the school sign.”

State Senator Steve Oroho opened his remarks with a complement of the food.

“That food was fantastic," Oroho said. "I think I had enough for the next 100 years.”

He went on to read a resolution from the State of New Jersey.

Historical Society members presented a PowerPoint presentation entitled "Now & Then,” contrasting recent photographs of borough locations with historical images of the same subjects.

“We had over 100 people here tonight,” said Kibildis. “I was very thrilled with the support we got from the community for this event.”

The Ogdensburg Centennial celebration continues on September 20, 2014. A parade along Main Street will start at noon followed by activities and music on the firehouse field. A fireworks show will be at the Ogdensburg Elementary School.
