The Borough Council voted appoint Robert Vander Ploeg to detective on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

While policie promotions are up to Police Chief Eugene McInerney, the increase in spending for the $5,000 stipend must be approved by the township.

“I have no problem with the expenditure on a phone and stipend.” Councilman Nick Giordano said.

The council also gave authorization to Borough Administrator Jim Kilduff to make a conditional offer of employment for a new police officer. While the offer can be made, it is conditional upon completing a full background check and psychological evaluation. The new officer has not yet been named.
