Ogdensburg planning to acquire new truck

The Ogdensburg Borough Council unanimously introduced a bond ordinance for the acquisition of a new mason dump truck for the Department of Public Works on Monday, Aug. 11.

The truck is expected to be used for snow removal and borough improvement projects.

"The current truck has helped us through a lot, and now, it's costing thousands of dollars per year to repair and maintain it," Borough Councilman David Astor said. "It's fiscally responsible for us to obtain a new truck for the town."

The borough intends to issue bonds to finance the cost, to the tune of $66,500, and the truck is to be used solely borough business. Once the new truck is acquired, the old one will be stripped down and sold, with that money going back into the town's operating budget.

There will be a public hearing and second vote on the ordinance at Monday's council meeting.
