Sparta Lanes will hold a fundraiser for Nicholas DaSilva on Saturday Aug. 9 starting at 9 a.m. until closing on on Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon until closing.

Every regular game bowled, will raise a $1 for the DaSilva family. In addition to the bowling games, there are lane sponsors who have donated $50 per lane, which will go toward the DaSilvas as well.

Tickets will be sold at the Sparta Lanes front desk during the fundraiser in order to win prize donations and baskets displayed all weekend long. Winners do not have to be present.

DaSilva, 6, of Hardyston was diagnosed with Burkett's Lymphoma, a form of cancer, at 5 years old on Nov. 17, 2013. He has been a “trooper” throughout his more than eight rounds of chemo, his 5-hour surgery to remove his remaining tumor and countless other procedures. Nicholas battled through his tough fight and was declared in remission on May 5, 2014. However, each day ahead brings an unpredictable future. The DaSilva family has spent thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

Dana Mastrolacasa, who met Patricia DaSilva at the Valarie Tereatment Center in Morristown, wanted to help her get financial help. She advised Patricia to reach out to Melissa and Peter Prestipino, owners of Sparta Lanes, who had recently organized a successful bowing fundraiser for Debra Mastrolacasa, who was undergoing cancer tretment for Neuroblastoma. Once notified of this similar story of a local child battling cancer, the Prestipino Family sprung into action.
