‘The Shoes’ fit Black Bear Film Festival Fundraiser
MONTAGUE — As the old saying goes, “If the shoe fits, wear it.”
The Black Bear Film Festival has found a perfect fit with New York City-based cover band The Shoes to perform at its Midsummer Soiree fundraising event at High Point Golf Club, 342 Lake Shore South, Montague, N.J. on Aug. 2.
The band’s versatility to perform songs from every decade will serve as the backdrop for evening, which will also include guest appearances by VIPs from the independent film industry, tapas-style dishes donated by area restaurants, sushi prepared by the golf club’s sushi chef, and lakeside dancing.
The event will be held on the newly renovated patio that is now home to an eight foot-plus waterfall and oversized stone fire place that overlooks the lake at High Point Golf Club.
Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased at the Black Bear Film Festival’s main office on the second-floor of the Milford Community House located at 201 Broad St. They can also be purchased by calling 570-409-0909 or www.blackbearfilm.com.
“I saw this group perform in New York City and I was completely blown away,” said Jerry Beaver, Founding President of the Black Bear Film Festival. “They were just incredible and I knew I had to share them with our community. Being able to bring a NYC-based group to the Black Bear Film Festival’s fundraising event says a lot about how our nonprofit has grown over the years, and we look forward to its continued growth.”
The Shoes is a band comprised of five musicians based in New York City. Collectively the group has performed around the world in clubs, weddings, cruise ships, resorts, theatres, live events, recording sessions, on Broadway, off-Broadway, and on TV and Film. Some notable artists they’ve worked with include Moby, Enya, Julee Cruise, Marilyn Maye, Paul Hipp, Ted Nugent, and Bo Diddley. One of the leading members of the group, Louis Tucci, has had his published songs recorded by Martin Gore and Julee Cruise, including his song “Artificial World,” which appeared on the soundtrack for Wes Craven’s horror film Scream.
The 15th annual Black Bear Film Festival will take place October 17 to 19. The Historic Milford Theatre, 114 E. Catharine St., Milford, Pa. will host the screenings of this year’s feature films. The Film Salon, located in the Community Room at the Pike County Public Library, will offer special film selections, guest speakers, and Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.
