The Jefferson Youth Cross Country Program will be offered by the Jefferson Township Recreation Dept. for Jefferson Township residents from grades 1 through 8.

Registration forms are available in the Recreation Department at Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong, and in the literature display racks in the Jefferson Township Municipal Building and the Public Library. The participation fee will be $30 per student with checks payable to the Township of Jefferson and it covers league fees, event participation fees, and a team tee-shirt.

Registration is due by Aug. 22 and any received after that date will incur a late fee of $10 for a total fee of $40 per child.

To prepare for the fall season, the start date will be Tuesday, Aug. 26 with practices at the Jefferson Township High School’s track and cross-country course. Head Coach Gregory Bubniak has announced that practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m. for approximately 1 hour unless specified otherwise and will be adjusted later in the season to accommodate earlier nightfall.

All meets will take place on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. starting on Sept. 7 and continuing on Sept. 14, 21, and 28; Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 26. All meets are approximately 1 hour or less at the old Greystone complex now called Central Park. The address is 91 Central Ave., Morris Plains, NJ 07950. If an individual/team qualifies, the NJ State XC Meet is in early November (date and location TBA).

Call the Recreation Department at 973-663-8404 for a registration form to be mailed, find them online at www.jeffersontownship.net (Residents’ tab to “Forms Center” to Recreation Department), or call Mr. Bubniak at 201-400-5630 or email jefftwp.youth.xc@gmail.com with specific questions about the program.
