VERNON — Vernon’s Double V Rod and Gun Club brought 36 disabled American military veterans, for a free day of fishing at the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday.
Some 34 club members and seven additional boy scouts and volunteers helped make the day a success that included a fine lunch and celebratory cake donated by Wakefern Food, the owner of several area Shop Rite stores.
This section of the refuge is now open to all and features a brand new handicapped accessible fishing dock with ramps.
