A fourth grade student in Pequannock, 9-year-old Madeline Lupi, has received the attention of Hollywood.

Her performance in a short film, "American Autumn," has gotten her a nomination as Best Performance in a Short Film, Young Actress Under 10. The nomination was announced by The Young Artist Awards. The awards ceremony will be held May 4 in Studio City, Cali.

For the past 34 years the non-profit organization has honored the best young stars (up to the age of 21) in the entertainment world. This includes work done in feature films, short films, TV shows, voice-overs and live theatre. It was founded by the late Maureen Dragone, a long-time member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Her mother was one of the founders of the Golden Globes.

"American Autumn" is a melodrama that depicts small everyday catastrophes that threaten upper middle class families. The film was shot in New Jersey last winter.
