Musical moments from Broadway come to MPAC

Memorable musical moments from Broadway, featuring stars of some of Broadway's biggest hit musicals will come to the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Broadway Showstoppers! on Saturday, April 12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29 to $49.

Slated to perform are Tony nominee Carolee Carmello ("Parade," "Mamma Mia," "Kiss Me Kate," "Scandalous"), Mandy Gonzalez ("Wicked," "In The Heights"), Telly Leung ("Godspell," "Wicked," "Glee"), Robert Creighton ("Little Me," "Mystery Of Edwin Drood," "Anything Goes") and Kissy Simmons ("The Lion King").

The performers will sing solos and in combinations, featuring music from the shows they starred in, as well as other Broadway favorites.

Carolee Carmello starred on Broadway in "Scandalous" (2013 Tony Nomination: Best Actress in a Leading Role), "Sister Act," "The Addams Family," "Mamma Mia," "Parade" (Tony Nomination), "Urintown," "Kiss Me Kate," "Chess," "Falsettos," "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and many others. Television audiences know Carolee from "Remember W.E.N.N.", "Frasier", "Law & Order" and others. Her recordings include "Scandalous," "Jekyll & Hyde", "Parade", "Elegies", "Hello Again" and more.

Mandy Gonzalez is one of the most powerful and versatile voices in musical theatre. She was last seen starring as Elphaba in the Broadway production of "Wicked" (Broadway.com award for Best Replacement). She has appeared as Princess Amneris in the Elton John and Tim Rice musical "Aida." She also starred in the Broadway show "Lennon" where she portrayed John Lennon as well as other characters. Mandy made her Broadway debut in Jim Steinman's "Dance of the Vampires" starring opposite Michael Crawford. She is best known for playing the role of Nina Rosario in the Tony Award winning musical "In The Heights," a role she created Off-Broadway at 37 Arts (Drama Desk Award for Best Ensemble). Mandy was featured in the televised documentary "In The Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams" which follows the shows journey to Broadway and beyond.

Telly Leung is a favorite to Broadway audiences. He has starred in the recent hit "Godspell," "RENT," "Wicked," "Pacific Overtures" and "Flower Drum Song." Television Fans know Telly as Wes, a friend of Blaine's and a member of the "Dalton Academy Warblers" in Fox's hit show Glee. Most recently, he starred alongside George Takei and Lea Salonga in the world premiere of the Broadway-bound musical, "Allegiance," at the Old Globe Theater. In concert, he has performed to sold-out houses all over the world including concerts at London's Hippodrome, Carnegie Hall, NYC's 54 below, The Kennedy Center, The Hollywood Bowl, The Magic Castle, The Laurie Beechman Theater, The Coterie at the Lowes Hotel in Hollywood and San Diego's Diversionary Theater. His first solo CD, "I'll Cover You," is available on The Yellow Sound Label.

New Jersey's Robert Creighton has starred in many Broadway shows including "Mystery of Edwin Drood," "Anything Goes" and "Chicago." This past February, he starred in City center's Encore series "Little Me" to great acclaim. Paper Mill Playhouse was home to Robert, as he was featured in many shows there: "Oliver!," "Peter Pan," "Guys & Dolls," "Funny Girl" and more. TV audiences will recognize Robert from roles on "Elementary" (CBS), "Law & Order" (NBC) and "Life on Mars" (ABC).

Kissy Simmons is an American actress best known for playing Nala in the Broadway production of "The Lion King."
