Vernal pool exploration planned at Lusscroft Farm

| 31 Mar 2014 | 11:43

The sixth Annual Vernal Pool Exploration education program at Lusscroft Farm is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 from 2-3:30 p.m.

Visit vernal pools to explore these habitats and learn why these sites are important to many species of amphibians, reptiles, insects and other wildlife. Microscopes and magnifying glasses will be available to investigate the "microworld" of vernal pools.

See how the awakening of the many creatures in and around these pools signals the arrival of spring!

Casual and novice hikers are welcome.

All hikers should wear appropriate boots or shoes and clothing suited to the weather conditions. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no fee for this activity, but donations are requested. Activities begin at the Lusscroft Manor House.

To register, contact Kevin Mitchell at 973-702-2289 or kmitchel@ptd.net.
