Jefferson taking applications for exercise program

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the new spring session of its high energy, low-impact adult strength training exercise program offering a Tuesday and a Thursday session.

An 11-week session begins on Tuesday, April 8, from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., continuing on consecutive Tuesdays with the last class on June 17. Classes are held in the Jefferson Township High School Underclassman Cafeteria and Wrestling Room, 1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, New Jersey. The fee for this 11-week program is $38.50 (checks payable to the Township of Jefferson).

A 9-week session begins on Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. continuing on consecutive Thursdays with the last class on June 12. Classes also will be held in the Jefferson Township High School Underclassman Cafeteria and Wrestling Room, 1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, New Jersey. The fee for this 9-week program is $31.50 (checks payable to the Township of Jefferson).

Taught by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Group Exercise Certified Instructor Christine Powell, these classes will consist of weight-training to build muscular strength and toning, exercises to build cardiovascular and muscular endurance and core strengthening work. Be ready to get stronger and get your heart rate up!

A minimum of 15 people/maximum of 30 people is required to run each class. Participants should bring a bottle of water, a challenging set of hand weights, and a mat or large towel for the floor exercises.

All participants must pre-register through the Jefferson Township Recreation Department. Registration forms are available at the Recreation Department, located at Camp Jefferson at 81 Weldon Road during regular business hours of 9 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday and 8 AM to 3:30 PM Fridays, or by calling 973-663-8404. Download a CORE exercise program registration form from the township’s website at www.jeffersontownship.net by going to “Residents,” to “Forms Center” to the Recreation Department section. Registrations and checks can be mailed to Jefferson Township Recreation, CORE program, Camp Jefferson, 81 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 or dropped off in person. MasterCard, VISA, and Discover are accepted but a 2.45% bank convenience charge will be added to the registration fee.
