Vernon children's author Leesa Beckmann and her pet goose, Oliver, visited the Franklin Elementary School on Wednesday, March 19, thanks to a grant from the Franklin Education Foundation obtained by librarian Sandy Bargiel.

Beckmann has written four books starring the Sebastopol goose, who turns four next month, and read to preschool through fourth grade students in groups by grade.

Bargiel spoke on the kids' held interest in their visitors.

"When no one asks to go to the bathroom, you know you've got them hook, line and sinker," she said.
