Each March, schools in New Jersey celebrate the observance of Youth Art Month.

The primary goal of YAM is to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs.

Artwork created by students in grades K-12 from Sussex County’s public and private schools will be on display at the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, 133 Spring Street, Newton through March 28.

Students and their families are invited to attend the artists’ reception on March 28 from 6:00-6:45 p.m. for grades K-5 and 7 until 7:45 p.m. for grades 6-12 students. This exhibit, which is sponsored by Art Educators of NJ and the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council, is coordinated under the direction of Kate Del Vecchio, Sussex County YAM Chairperson, Halsted Middle School, Newton and Melissa Piazza, Sussex County YAM Co-Chairperson, Stillwater Township School, Stillwater.
