SUSSEX — For the third year in a row Hunter Space, 18, of the Beemerville Fire Department won the Sussex Franklin Auto Mall’s Rib Eating Contest on Saturday.
Space won $500 that will go towards the needs of his department. According to his dad Assemblyman Parker Space, he practices at home every night.
Additional competing fire departments won $100 for their respective departments. The ribs were supplied by renowned rib master Eric Figueroa from the Double S Diner.
The event is a prelude to the annual Rocks, Ribs, and Ridges music and ribs festival to be held at the Hidden Valley Club in Vernon on June 8 and 9. This year’s headliner is the legendary Charlie Daniels.
