Talent show to benefit Autism Speaks

NEWTON — The Newton Theatre announces it has scheduled two endeavors to support autism awareness in the month of April, which is Autism Awareness month.

The Newton Theatre joins the Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue global initiative, with blue lights bathing the outer building and the lobby. In honor of this annual World Autism Awareness Day, hundreds and thousands of businesses, iconic landmarks, hotels, venues, stores, homes and communities will take part in Light It Up Blue.

On April 27, The Newton Theatre is holding its first talent show, Skylands’ Got Talent, with proceeds from tickets sales to benefit Autism Speaks, Autism NJ and Reed Academy. Fifteen to 20 acts will perform in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. Various types of performances are expected.

Skylands’ Got Talent is open to Sussex, Warren and Pike County residents only. Competitors will be selected from YouTube.com audition videos. The top three performers will win prizes. More information about the competition, rules and requirements may be found on The Newton Theatre website.
