Comic shop owners fighting human trafficking

HAMBURG — Bob and Linda Adams, the proprietors of Bob Collectibles in the borough are helping champion the American Association of University Women's campaign against human trafficking.

Linda Adams is the Sussex County branch chairwoman of the AAUW.

The state chapter of AAUW is a coalition group member for the N.J. Coalition Against Human Trafficking. Patrons of Bob Collectibles were asked to sign a petition on their awareness of the problem of human trafficking in New Jersey and to support their local authorities and agencies in their efforts to combat this crime.

Patrons were cooperative in signing the petition once they were told they would be fighting against a growing force that captures and enslaves young innocent lives. The N.J. Coalition Against Human Trafficking has a drive against sex trafficking of minors during the associated Super Bowl events in Northern New Jersey.

These moral battle concepts like heroic mortal battle concepts are keen on the minds of comic book readers.

Linda Adams presented Hamburg Mayor Paul Marino with a proclamation to sign and endorse. Mayor Paul Marino embraced the words of the proclamation and designated Jan. 11 and of each year, as Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the Borough of Hamburg, to raise awareness about the signs and consequences of human trafficking, to promote opposition to human trafficking in all of its forms and to encourage support for the survivors of human trafficking throughout the State of New Jersey and across the world to put an end to this criminal activity and restore freedom and dignity to its survivors.

The Congressional Research Service estimates that as many as 17,500 people are believed to be trafficked into the United States each year, and some have estimated that 100,000 U.S. citizen children are victims of trafficking within the United States.
